Together Forever

Linda and Bette dogs

Our moms have made a forever plan for us, and we haven't been able to stop wagging our tails since hearing about it!

We didn't grow up together. In fact, we were all homeless for a time. One by one, we found ourselves in a shelter where people came to look us over and decide whether they wanted to give us a forever home. We stayed hopeful, remembering the homes we'd lost when our people could no longer care for us. Alas, we were too often bypassed in favor of someone else.

Finally, at four different times, our moms came into that shelter, picked us out of all the animals there and said the words we were longing to hear: “We want you to come home with us.” We tried not to drown them with wet kisses or leave any little puddles on the floor, but we were delirious with joy! And what a home we now have: warm beds, lots of treats, places to dig (when our moms aren't looking), rides in the car, lots of cuddles, and mostly, family. Even aloof Sophie, our cat sister, has such fun being with us that we've made her an honorary dog!

We don't want to ever be homeless again, and our moms have seen to it that that won't happen. At that sad time when our two moms pass over the rainbow bridge, they will deed our house over to Humane Society Naples, the shelter that once cared for us. And guess what! We'll be in it!!. That's right. Our moms have made it possible for all of us to stay together and remain in our house as a family for as long as we can wag our tails, bark at strangers, or in Sophie's case, dream of catching geckos. With members of the shelter staff to care for us until it's our turn to travel to the other side of the rainbow bridge, we'll always be together—in our forever home. Now that's the cat's meow!!!
